Rally.org is NOT a charitable organization, as this page of their web-site clearly identifies them as a For-Profit business. Rally uses an ORG website extension, which can be misleading to consumers. ORG web extensions are traditionally used by organizations such as nonprofit agencies, churches, public charities, foundations, etc. However, because there is no confirmation process for selecting a domain name, sometimes For-Profit businesses purchase ORG domains when a COM (commerce) domain would be more fitting.
GiveForward.com makes claim to being the "least expensive" option for online fundraising according to their website, with average fees of 2.9%. However, it is important to read between the lines and realize that they give their donors the option to pay the "profit" fees, and the remaining Credit Card processing fees are deducted from the donated amount. This is just a clever way of shifting the numbers so that it appears their fees are lower than any of the other online funding sites. All in all, their profit remains the same at 5%, and fundraisers receive more, only if their donors elect to increase their contributions to cover the fees!
Youcaring.com is the only for-profit fundraising website that doesn't seem to be in it for the money. However, while they are accurate in their advertisement of "free" fundraising, their credit card processing fees are still higher than KidGiving.org, and they cannot offer their donors receipts for tax-deduction purposes.
